so now i'm home?

california state line

we FINALLY arrived in san francisco last night around 5:30pm.  it was a beautiful drive into the city, coming over the bay bridge at sunset and seeing the skyline.  such a cool way to arrive and so, so exciting.  we got to our temporary place, met the guy we're renting from and got the keys, and then lugged all of our crap inside.  it's a nice apartment - just a studio, so it's smaller than what i'd want for us permanently, but it will certainly do for now!  the building is old (like most in sf), and the elevator is something else.  fighting with the door and metal gate while moving our stuff in was infuriating, to say the least.  combine that with the psychedelic paint and you've got quite an experience, let me tell you.

after we got settled, one of chris' best friends from college who also just moved here picked us up and took us out which was a ton of fun.  too much fun - still feeling it today.  but even with a hangover, we had a very productive day.  went to trader joe's (which was a lovely gro sto experience that i hope continues even when we go anytime other than 11am on a tuesday), made ourselves a healthy lunch (thank god, needed that so badly), went to check out an apartment (that had JUST been taken about 5 minutes before we got there, of course), and then walked around and checked out a few of the 'hoods.  oh, and it is GORGEOUS here today.  so bright and sunny and even ended up having to take our coats off when walking around.  deeeelightful.

it has all been amazing so far and i'm so pumped to be here, but i can't shake this feeling of being in a dream!  i don't think my brain is accepting what's happening.  i'm constantly thinking about how crazy it is that we're actually here and this is where we live now.  pretty cool.  maybe the dream-feeling will go away once i have to go to work next tuesday?

I'll be honest - I'm crazy jealous because California is my dream home. I can't wait to hear more about your adventures around your new city :)
